A return visit to one of our favorite easy breezy getaways – Playa Mujeres, Mexico. We stumbled upon this isolated gem a few years ago and I must say my expectations weren’t high. The words “all-inclusive” conjured images of wet T shirt contests, tequila girls with whistles, and the requisite foam machine. Oh contraire…La Amada is a serene boutique resort with white sand beaches and an Aqua Therapy Spa that appears to be the fountain of youth. In fact, the only pitfall is determining what to order when freshly squeezed exotic smoothies, Mexican lobsters, and top shelf tequila abound.

Twilight in the Haut Marais after a full (or ‘long’ in the words of my husband) afternoon shopping…near the intersection where Iro meets Sandro meets Maje meets Zadig + Voltaire.

Late afternoon espresso next to an unexpected visitor at Café de Flore, the legendary literary café that once hosted Hemingway and Truman Capote. Celebrity Alert: We spotted Lou Doillon hanging out in the corner…perhaps the highlight of my trip!

Starting off an evening with escargot, Rosé, and the Aspen Charity Bracelet.

The tiny kitchen at Frenchie. I booked a reservation at this cult-favorite culinary destination months ahead and it was well worth it! A gem that will please the extreme Foodie, cool-hunter or anyone simply looking for a cozy + delicious meal.Delicious dessert + Sauternes after a blind four course tasting menu at Spring. Maybe I am just a simpleton, but the jury is still out on this ‘serious’ experience.

We rambled over to Ralph’s for a Monday night bite sans-reservation and could not get in. You heard it here, the Frenchies love Americana. Thankfully I got my fix at RL in Chicago over Christmas.

Post dinner cocktails at L’Hotel, the hush-hush spot for cool cats like Johnny Depp and Helena Christensen. Interesting fact: it was the former home (and death place) of Oscar Wilde.

Get ready … you are about to be bombarded with a mountain of savory imagery from one of the most exquisite places of the planet: Paris.

SEE: The Louvre is a perennial must on any visit. The imposing architecture alone is jaw dropping, and I find a new gem inside every time. My other favorite is the Musée d’Orsay (not pictured) because I love love the impressionists. Above, TW gets his French on!

EAT (or at least LOOK): Our hotel was conveniently located in St. Germain near the abundant Raspail Organic Market. An absolute feast for the eyes and tummy with stands that go on for days.

VISIT: After gorging at the Market, take a hunk of cheese over to the Luxembourg Gardens for some more outdoor magnificence.

SHOP: On our way over the Luxembourg Gardens, I stumbled upon this fantastic natural bath product shop + salon. I have been using the Avocat facial oil every day since my return. Now I just need to figure out a way to get my hands on more!

SHOP: Another culinary must in St. Germain is Poilane, where the bread is off the charts. Stop for a little carbo fuel or one of their lovely market totes to bring home.

SHOP: The ultimate one-stop-shop is Le Bon Marché! Celine, Isabel Marant, Diptyque, Bonpoint, Aesop…. yes! all under ONE roof. Not too mention, Le Bon Marche had the best Christmas displays in town.
And no cool cat can miss uber concept store, Colette. Above artist Kevin Lyons creates quirky illustrations for his Colette collaboration.

London calling.

A peak into our December hop across the pond. To begin our journey, the ever nostalgic siren red telephone booth.

There is no better way to explore a city than to walk it. In London there is no lack of impeccably tailored people watching, regal architecture, and - as of late - Maseratis + Lamborginis….seriously there is one Porsche for every Subaru we have in Colorado. I absolutely swooned for the school children’s over coats, especially this group of angels en route to a Christmas pageant.

The ceiling of the outdoor gallery in the financial district which houses the pubs where Insurance brokers close deals over a warm-ish pint.

For a country not exactly known for their healthy cuisine, they certainly grow some vibrant cabbage.
