I had the distinguished privilege of attending a media preview of YVES SAINT LAURENT: THE RETROSPECTIVE at the Denver Art Museum this afternoon. While pouring over a myriad of images to lead into the post, I settled on the above…because a male designer posing nude in the 1960s is about as wildly incongruous as Denver, Colorado being selected as the only city in the United States to receive the show. The preview was led by the distinguished Pierre Bergé, long-time partner of the designer + director of the Fondacion Yves Saint Laurent. Our tour guide was the impossibly chic Parisien curator, Florence Müller, dressed appropriately in a YSL signature trapeze line dress, all black of course – the designer’s favorite colour to sculpt a silhouette.
the grand finale….a two story wall of YSL tuxedo suits. le smokin!
YSL handbag, vintage top hat, Theory smoking jacket + cigarette pant, Alexander Wang booties
The exhibit runs from March 25 – July 8 and it is not to miss. Why Denver? Because the city was started by great pioneers.
